missing Al purdy

i am drinking
i am
drinking
fine wine
with beautiful
yellow flowers….
nah
hell with that

it’s cheap wine
not beer in
a bar on front
street
and no
fight is about
to erupt
where i
can sit on
a guy
after kicking
his
ass
and read him
a poem
where
he can
understand
violence
and beautiful literature
or flower power
or
my sensitivity

it’s simply
a sunday
night,
the wine
is cheap
but
it’s good
and my
own company
is all i
need….
and maybe
yours…..
