A Couple of Players

both smoke,
smokers, we’re smokin’
walkin’ away from
another, or sometimes
leaning on one
or the

pep talks

late at night
over the desk
out on the sidewalk
many feet away
from public

gotta smoke babe?

it’s required in
line of work,
cuts the stress before
going into a
situation – after
you and me
partners babe
doors and hearts
and ready
for the next
job if
it pays well enough

in the mean time

smoke ’em if you got ’em
