That extra 5

after writing all day
those
hot love letters of
business about
companies
in far away lands
and earning
a
decent cheque,
i
like to celebrate before
supper
with a beer or perhaps
a bourbon.

with a bourbon
on
rocks and
ginger
ale,
i can sip my way
through until
6:30 –
ready to eat by 7
but
by 9 or
9:30
i’m ready to sleep
soundly
and perfectly until
again 7 in the
a.m

if i have
simply the
beer,
i can stay up
and enjoy
our time together
watching
the mindless television
and staying
alert until
10 or maybe
10:30
-i don’t know what to say babe,
of either
it’s only one,
but between the 2
i think
it’s the extra
5 percent
