the time of the preacher……….

where naked ladies
stunt
the growth of the mind

group of christians with their minister
screaming outside the playhouse

the evening rolls on
winning at
cards and wishing for

sasparillas

stunted learning ends at the beginning of
a cigarette, loving dope and
sliding down
where ladders are no
longer there
to bring you up

inside the saloon

the change to beer tastes good
and is cold
the lady in the painting
behind the
bar, isn’t all that much to look at-
the droning on outside
is like the wind at night on a hill,
trying to wish out your
camp fire
stir the cattle, or
make
your horse snort in disgust

damn you

or play a song

– the naked ladies can wait
