morning mourning morning after

i typed

morning dove
you
said
mourning dove

i say morning dove
because they yip until about 9am
and then are dopey from then onwards
stupid lil bastards
lucky they don’t fall off the telephone
wires

you say mourning doves
because that’s the
proper spelling and
identification

i like the idea of mourning
in the morning

i’m mourning the moment they start up
waking me up
however
they amuse me as well
as the rest of
the day they seem
drunk

bobbing and falling over themselves

until yesterday

when that one stupid dopey bastard
committed suicide on the grill of my truck

it was morning
and now all his lil buddies on the telephone line
are in
mourning
