a
beautiful death
from a western gun

-floral pattern
down the toy barrel

pull back
the hammer
watch
the SkyWay bridge
arch

a bullet through the heart
smoke from a flaming stack

cool in the water – babe
skinny dip your body
with the
small necklace pattern
and soft light
of the
setting sun

-back on the beach we’re reborn
floral pattern in the silhouette from my or your own

toy gun.

get back in the car
drive over back the bridge
into town
-burlington street
but babe
you
know……this is SteelTown.

Touted as a working man's poet, Martin Durkin has been writing professionally for the last 12 years.
