Elmore Leonard – a semi quote

‘he
knows he’s
an
alcoholic

he

just hasn’t hit
bottom

hard enough yet……

…….but he’s been hitting the family pretty hard for a while now’

and all the other problems
legal-monetary and
otherwise.

but we pray for him
we
hope for him
we
watch the destruction
and
hope for the sunlight

and we age terribly.

we’re snappy
we’re worried
we jump at the sound of the phone
we’re cautious around him.

Mr. Leonard you were right –

when you wrote that book with the alcoholic
and you wrote that page
in that early chapter
you
nailed
it…..

he knows but he hasn’t hit bottom hard enough

but Elmore

he’s been hitting us pretty hard for a long long time.
