Nude and Dummy (The Paintings of Alex Colville)

Measuring Colvilles’ ocean pistol
while u stand on the stairs at the ready
its a postcard – inside a table top
pages numbering the plot line
outcome – unfinished

and if this is Toronto
i’ll take the East Coast
-where else to get the ocean view
yet where else can i go to discover the entire story?

you can leave the top of the stairs now – put on some clothes
i’ll drop on a shirt and we can listen to the window crashing waves
…stop plotting our love note suicide
-stand together by fridge or stare out attic window
